Education and Experience
I received my B.A. in Psychology and M.Ed. Mental Health from Florida Atlantic University in Davie, Florida in Boca Raton, Florida. I received my Post-Graduate training in Private Practice under the supervision of Dr. Kathy Anderson Ph.D. LCSW. My practical training focused on working with female survivors of Domestic Violence at Women in Distress, a Not for Profit organization located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I have also trained in providing group counseling for male batterers in Domestic Violence through Florida Family Care in Margate, Florida under the supervision of an LCSW. I also worked with those who suffer from addictions with co-existing mental and emotional health issues. My past research experience as and undergraduate at Florida Atlantic University includes investigating the neuro-psychological processes such as spatial memory, short-term memory, long-term memory and learning. I have experience working with children, families, adults and couples in a variety of settings including treatment facilities, not for profit organizations, educational settings, and private practice. My specialty is parenting and childhood trauma. Since 2006 I have been serving on a volunteer basis with the Youth and Family Ministry as a consultant for the Youth Ministry Shepherds and providing parenting classes for the Middle School parents a local church here in Davie, Florida.
Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist
I became a Christian before I became a Therapist. I knew I needed God in my life and for Jesus to be the Lord. On my own I was hopeless. I became a therapist because I knew that there were deeper understandings of the scriptures that can only come from knowing oneself intimately. Therefore I am a Counselor who is a Christian and see the value in helping someone emotionally having God at the center of our work.
