About

Prestonwood Baptist Church began on Feb. 6, 1977, as a mission of Northway Baptist Church and a dream of the Dallas Baptist Association—which saw the tremendous need for a vibrant church in North Dallas. Led by Pastor Bill Weber, the young church’s beginnings were modest, with services held at a community center for the first two years. In 1979, Prestonwood moved to its new home at Arapaho and Hillcrest roads in North Dallas.

Prestonwood continued to grow, and in 1989, the church experienced its most defining moment when Dr. Jack Graham accepted the call as pastor. With a burgeoning congregation and landlocked location, Pastor Graham and church leaders prayed about the next step for Prestonwood. God led the church to 140 acres in Plano, and in May 1999, Prestonwood held its first service at 6801 W. Park Blvd. God’s hand has continued to be on this church as members have witnessed changed lives, strengthened families and a greater reach in the community, nation and the world with the love of Christ.

In March 2006, after months of prayer with church leaders, Pastor Graham shared with the congregation a vision for expansion that included plans for a second location. After meeting in home groups, and then in the Prosper High School gym, in October 2008, our church family celebrated the dedication of the new facility on 127 acres on Prosper Trail, just east of the Dallas North Tollway. In the fall of 2012, an expansion project that doubled the existing space was completed to keep up with the growing congregation. Now, more than 2,000 people call our North Campus home.

In 2009, Prestonwood launched a weekly Worship Service to reach Spanish-speaking communities. Prestonwood en Español continues experiencing tremendous growth, with a thriving service at the Plano Campus. And on Easter Sunday of 2017, the Lewisville Campus was officially launched for Prestonwood en Español. With two weekly services, the new campus is reaching an area with a large Hispanic community.

And Prestonwood continues to thrive today with nearly 42,000 members at three campuses.

The vision God has always had for Prestonwood reaches much deeper than the local community, however. Throughout the year, Prestonwood members are ministering in San Antonio, Boston and New Orleans; and they’re in the Amazon, Romania and Africa. And through PowerPoint Ministries, countless people throughout the world can hear the life-transforming truth of God’s Word via television, radio and the Internet.
