About

We are ministers with mental health training. Our professionally licensed counselors, certified pastoral counselors, and graduate level interns all have the formal education, practical life and ministry experience, as well as professional training to help you in and through many of the problems, struggles or setbacks you may be experiencing in your life and/or walk with Christ. Whether they are mental, emotional, relational, or spiritual—your needs and concerns will receive the focused attention and best treatment necessary to help you find comfort, solve problems, or break free!

At ANLCC, we believe in the reality and relevance of your spiritual faith and identity as we help you through the counseling process to address mental, emotional and relational issues. As pastoral counselors, we acknowledge the interest and influence of God in your counseling process. As professional counselors we are confident that our skills and training make it more efficient, ethical, and understandable for you.

My Christian Faith and My Professional Practice

From our founder, Brad Peterson, LPC, LMHC

While in graduate school from 2003-2005, it became my passion to effectively integrate the power of God and the work of His Holy Spirit that I had witnessed and experienced in over a decade of ministry and missions experience, with the insights, perspectives, and interventions I was learning from the world of psychology and clinical counseling.

As a Christian counselor working primarily with Christian clients, I believe we have unlimited and uninhibited access to all that God has provided for our healing, growth, and recovery from the impact this world and it's brokenness has on us. We are never without hope, never alone, and can always trust that God is at work, regardless of the emotional, relational, or mental state we might be in.

Sometimes I need to hold that hope and perspective for my clients while they work to identify the lies and associated experiences keeping them from believing and acting on that belief themselves, but it is my aim to assist each of my clients to discover and adopt the truth that will truly set them free!

Brad Peterson

LMHC
Brad began his professional counseling career in 2002, while completing his Master of Arts in Family Ministry from Multnomah Biblical Seminary, and prior to completing his Master of Arts in Counseling from Western Seminary in Portland, OR in 2005. He began his church ministry experience in 1991, after his first year at Multnomah University (then Multnomah School of the Bible), and has been pastoring or serving regularly in church ministry the past 30+ years. His unique approach provides clients with a powerful blend of both pastoral care & clinical excellence.

In 2023, he began my 21st year of professional counseling experience, beginning with Domestic Violence Perpetrator Group Treatment Facilitation in 2002. He developed his own, faith-based curriculum and program as a WA State Certified Domestic Violence Perpetrator Treatment Provider and Supervisor that operated from 2006 to 2014, while continuing to further his professional education & training in other areas.

Counseling experience
Aside from the experience in my graduate degree (i.e. practice sessions) and counseling-type work I have done in the non-professional sense, I am gaining professional experience as an intern at A New Life Christian Counseling. My theoretical approach to counseling is eclectic, drawing from multiple counseling theories and interventions in order to best meet each client’s needs.

I am also very thankful for the exposure to various ministry settings that I have had, and by God’s grace and allowance, I hope to always integrate our shared Christian faith into our work together whenever possible.

Low Fee Counseling Rate: $30-$60/session
