About

We are ministers with mental health training. Our professionally licensed counselors, certified pastoral counselors, and graduate level interns all have the formal education, practical life and ministry experience, as well as professional training to help you in and through many of the problems, struggles or setbacks you may be experiencing in your life and/or walk with Christ. Whether they are mental, emotional, relational, or spiritual—your needs and concerns will receive the focused attention and best treatment necessary to help you find comfort, solve problems, or break free!

At ANLCC, we believe in the reality and relevance of your spiritual faith and identity as we help you through the counseling process to address mental, emotional and relational issues. As pastoral counselors, we acknowledge the interest and influence of God in your counseling process. As professional counselors we are confident that our skills and training make it more efficient, ethical, and understandable for you.

My Christian Faith and My Professional Practice

From our founder, Brad Peterson, LPC, LMHC

While in graduate school from 2003-2005, it became my passion to effectively integrate the power of God and the work of His Holy Spirit that I had witnessed and experienced in over a decade of ministry and missions experience, with the insights, perspectives, and interventions I was learning from the world of psychology and clinical counseling.

As a Christian counselor working primarily with Christian clients, I believe we have unlimited and uninhibited access to all that God has provided for our healing, growth, and recovery from the impact this world and it's brokenness has on us. We are never without hope, never alone, and can always trust that God is at work, regardless of the emotional, relational, or mental state we might be in.

Sometimes I need to hold that hope and perspective for my clients while they work to identify the lies and associated experiences keeping them from believing and acting on that belief themselves, but it is my aim to assist each of my clients to discover and adopt the truth that will truly set them free!

AJ Buchele

AJ Buchele

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
AJ earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 2008 from the University of Portland. After a combined 16 years of military and first responder experience, AJ returned to school and in 2023 completed his Master of Arts in Counseling at Western Seminary. He is a member of the American Counseling Association, a National Certified Counselor, and is currently training to become a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT).

I view counseling as a collaborative process between the counselor and the client. I strongly believe that my role as a counselor is to show my clients unconditional positive regard. I believe all people are deserving of love and respect and someone’s actions and/or thoughts do not define who they are. I think that everyone has the capability within themselves to find healing and purpose in their lives, especially in the face of adversity.
Michael Cooper

Michael Cooper

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
Michael graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Theology from Portland Bible College and then completed a Master of Arts in Counseling from Western Seminary in 2023. He is current member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).

In our sessions, I will operate as a supportive guide, much like a trail guide on a hike, allowing you to take the lead in your exploration of thoughts, feelings, and experiences. By combining narrative and cognitive approaches, I empower individuals to navigate their unique paths, encouraging them to share their stories and explore the ways in which their thoughts shape their reality.

I understand that every individual's journey is distinct so we will work collaboratively towards understanding, growth, and positive change that you seek. I am here to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where you can freely express yourself and embark on a journey towards a more holistic life.
Jerry Finley

Jerry Finley

LMHC
Jerry began his counseling career in 2015, while completing his Masters of Arts in Counseling at Multnomah University. Previously, he served for 26 years in the United States Navy, predominately as a Career Counselor. He presents a realistic approach to his clients with a solution-focused model, blended with his extensive leadership experience and Christian world-view.

My approach to therapy is solution-focused, meaning that we will work collaboratively to identify your goals and develop practical strategies to help you achieve them. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I believe in the power of positivity and that each individual has the strength within themselves to enact positive change in their lives.
