About

Asking for help is a courageous thing to do. It is hard and rewarding work to look at yourself and your life and be willing to make changes. I consider it an honor and privilege to walk with you through this part of your journey. I believe counseling should be an open experience, with trust and collaboration as critical elements. I focus on nurturing a strong, therapeutic relationship that creates an environment where you can feel safe sharing your personal stories. My approach is non-judgmental, accepting, and warm.
I have over twenty years in the counseling field and work with older adolescents and adults struggling with mood disorders, grief and loss, behavioral struggles, trauma, difficult life transitions, women’s issues., disordered eating, low self-esteem, among others. I offer Christian counseling for those who prefer a faith-based perspective.
I use an integrated approach to therapy implementing such techniques as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and trauma-informed approaches. I have offices in Naperville, Plain, field, and Palos Heights Illinois.
I am also part of a team of highly skilled professionals with over 15 years of clinical experience. Associates in Professional Counseling was founded in 1997 and has grown to include over 15 Doctoral and Masters Therapists working from 5 offices in the Chicago area. The clinical team is highly experienced, with most having over 15 years in hospital, agency, and private practice counseling. APC is known for having a solid spiritual foundation providing for hope, healing, and health. Many of our clients and families are physicians, clinicians, executives, and professionals. The clinical staff regularly attends continuing education programs at institutions such as Northwestern, the University of Chicago, and Harvard to stay up to date with best practices.

Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist

I believe that God has created us to be spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and social beings. When one of those areas is impacted, it can impact us a whole. I belive God wants ut to live holistic and health lives and without incorporating our faith, we lack a vital part of who we are created to be and a critical part of learning to live holistically.
