About
I have a Masters degree in Pastoral Counseling from the Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH. I have been working in the counseling field for 28 years and in private practice for 21 years.
I specialize in working with people who are Highly Sensitive People (or HSP as defined by Dr. Elaine Aron in her books). My goal is to help HSPs come to a full understanding of how they can maximize their full potential.
I see other clients as well that may be suffering from a variety of issues like depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual abuse, post abortive syndrome, and others.
I am skilled in using DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) in both a group and individual setting, and integrating this into a Christian perspective. I also use EMDR, Affirmation therapy, other forms of CBT, art, bibliotherapy, and other modalities.
Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist
I became a Christian in 1986 after a powerful life changing event that set me on fire for God. Through so many experiences in my own life God led me in the direction of helping others to find healing and freedom from past wounds. I knew that it was important to have God at the center of this process so I attended faithful Christian colleges and formed my work around my faith. It can be so hard to find a faith filled, Bible believing, conservative Christian that shares your values when looking for a counselor.
