About

Clarity Psychological Services seeks to provide hope, insight, clarity, encouragement, and action steps to those experiencing emotional and psychological distress. We believe that change happens one decision at a time. Coming here is the first step to healing, growth, and wellness. The office is conveniently located in Wexford, PA on route 19.

Most of our clients come see us because they are experiencing some level of stress, depression, anxiety, or relational/marital conflict. Other clients see us to gain insight and understanding to a life transition or temporary problem. We provide counseling within a safe, warm, and non-judgmental environment for clients to feel validated, understood, encouraged, and hopeful. The techniques we employ are based on each client's specific needs and what we feel would best benefit the client. Some of the treatment models we draw from are cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, emotionally focused therapy, Gottman method couples therapy, Imago Dialogue, person centered therapy, positive psychology, and mindfulness. The treatments we use are evidence-based, comprehensive, solution-focused, and goal-directed.

Often, clients are reluctant to contact a psychologist or therapist because they are unsure of what to expect. During our first session of counseling, we seek to understand you, your needs, and your situation with compassion and empathy. Collaboratively, we discuss treatment goals and we provide insight to your present problem to help you start getting unstuck. At times your therapist may be direct and active, other times they listen intently to your areas of concern and difficulty. Clients leave their first session with hope and a plan of action towards wellness.

Clarity Psychological Services provides treatment for relational/marital distress, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder/panic attacks, phobias, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), adjustment disorders, addiction, porn addiction, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), difficult life transitions, and anger management. Therapy within a Christian framework is available upon request. Dr. Chen at Clarity Psychological Services also provides life, relationship, and leadership coaching in addition to therapy. Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist

I am John Hartline L.C.S.W, M.Div. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with
over 25 years of counseling experience. I also have my Master of Divinity.
I became a Christian therapist because I am passionate about using biblical
principles to help my clients identify and achieve their goals. I am an active
member of a diverse church in my home of Charlotte N.C. where we are
committed to the divine inspiration, and inerrancy of Scripture. My counseling
is informed by my involvement in regular fellowship, community groups,
prayer and Bible Study. It’s been the joy of my life to see how God has worked
to change the lives of the individuals, couples, and families that I have been
blessed to serve. I’m fascinated by the way most Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy concepts (which are evidence based) are in accordance with
Scripture. I do use an integrative approach to therapy that incorporates a
variety of therapeutic principles, philosophies and techniques, that include
solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness. I pour any approach to therapy
that I use through a biblical filter, as I believe that God’s Word is the final
authority on all things. I also delight in studying theology, apologetics, and
playing praise and worship music on my guitar.
