About

My name is Ross Behuniak, and I’m the owner of Counselors In Christ, PLLC.
I work with Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, and offer Couples Counseling. I especially love working with older teens and young adults, individuals (especially men), and married couples who are ready to grow and heal.

Something I’m deeply passionate about is Christian Integration for individuals and couples who request it. I’ve been serving in ministry since 2012 and studied to become a pastor/counselor at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

I also have a soft spot for first responders — I was a firefighter for 4 years and love supporting those who serve others. I was recently trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and have enjoyed using it with individuals who struggle with PTSD

One unique thing about my practice is how I approach pro bono work — I tithe back to the church and community with 10% of my sessions. I love providing free or reduced counseling for clergy members, first responders, and veterans who need support.

I’m currently in-network with BCBS, Aetna, Aetna SHP, Healthy Blue, Vaya, and NC Medicaid.

Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist

There is something powerful about the chains that bind us to the lie of "I am worthless", or "I am unlovable". Those narratives are a lie, and the power lies within God and what He does in our life when He reveals to us that they are complete fallacy. Not only do we gain the perspective of having ultimate value and worth in Jesus, but once He obliterates the chains, we get to experience a feeling of love and acceptance that can only be described as heavenly, as they are from God AND compared and contrasted to our former life. A life of believing in personal worthlessness. Those chains that once bound us, God uses to show us how amazing his love is compared to a life without Him. I became a therapist because I have personal experience with this journey, and God called me to walk with Him, and you, as He breaks your chains.

I’m Ross Behuniak, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate with Master’s degrees in Counseling and Christian Studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. I help Christians — whether firm in their faith, wrestling with it, or healing from church wounds — find practical strategies, deeper self-understanding, and hope for the road ahead.

My approach combines evidence-based therapy (CBT, mindfulness, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing) with the wisdom and compassion of Christian faith — offered in a safe, non-judgmental space where you can speak freely.
