Autobiography:
Dr Keith Marshall overcame the hardships of living in a poor socio-economic environment, and early childhood sexual and physical abuse, which led to chronic drug addiction. For many years while he was addicted, he experienced near-death events, relationship disruptions, homelessness, employment disruptions, failed attempts at recovery, low self-esteem, other tragic events, and most importantly, an unexplainable spiritual event in 2006 which freed him from the bondage of addiction (described in his autobiography “Fear To Freedom From Dumpster to Doctor”).
After many months of painstaking introspective work on himself and making amends for his past mistakes, Dr. Mashall was able to realize that his past pain pushed him to his purpose in life to help others overcome human developmental struggles.
In his efforts to become more effective at helping others, Keith walked through his fears and went back to school in 2006 and subsequently earned a Substance Use Disorder Specialist Certificate from Glendale Community College and became a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor. In 2007 Keith attended Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena CA. and earned both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in human development with a Specialization in Early Childhood Education. In the winter of 2011, Keith was accepted to the Chicago School of Professional Psychology where he subsequently earned his Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology in the summer of 2015. Dr. Marshall was able to maintain a perfect grade point average of 4.0 throughout the entire school process.
In 2015 Dr. Marshall founded and is the current CEO of Dedicato Treatment Center Inc. Dr. Marshall was able to obtain a license and certification from the California Department of Health Care Services to provide residential, detoxification, and outpatient treatment for people suffering from substance use disorders, including co-occurring mental health disorders. In addition, Dr. Marshall is among a scant few African Americans in the country who own and operate a state-licensed and certified drug and alcohol treatment center. Dedicato Treatment Center is also among only six percent of all drug and alcohol treatment centers in the country with the highest-level Joint Commission Accreditation, certifying that Dedicato Treatment Center has been following “best practices” since 2017.
My Christian Faith and My Professional Practice
My journey of life allowed me to experience God's grace beyond any measure I could explain. God revealed Himself to me in a miracle that leaves me breathless, speechless, and dumbfounded.
I know God and His blood and redeeming power are real not by what "religion" taught me, but by God Himself in the miracle, the protection, the forgiveness in his Precious Blood Sacrifice, and the deliverance He bestowed upon me.
Yes, I have read the bible front to cover, yes I have been Baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, and yes I have been filled with the power of the Holy Spirit with evidence of the "unknown" tongues (what is bizarre about the spirit "signs" is my past belief that speaking in tongues was not real). All these factors led to the development of my beliefs, HOWEVER, God (Yahawah) Himself revealed Himself to me...
After 23 years of going through "hell" and suffering, God empowered me to conduct courageous introspective work on myself and become proactive and responsible for myself. He gave me the power to go to college for 9.5 years learning the skills necessary to work alongside my gifts to influence, teach, inspire, and help people overcome many human developmental struggles.
