Gary J DeVine is a Professional Counselor who practices Christian Psychology*. He is licensed and insured.
Gary earned a bachelors degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from Gordon College in 2001, and a masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2006. He was trained in Motivational Interviewing (a form of counseling highly regarded by SAMHSA) by Michael Levy, Ph.D., an expert in the field. Gary has worked in a variety of settings, including partial-hospital, prison, detox, and outpatient settings. He was trained to provide dual-diagnosis treatment to remediate co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse disorders. He has been trained in the group treatment of sex offenders.

Although Gary has learned much about the psyche and human behavior from secular research, he does not subscribe to any secular theories of human psychology. His understanding of the human psyche comes from his biblical studies and psychological research. In practice, Gary utilizes a combination of techniques developed by the Christian Psychologists and cognitive-behaviorists. He also utilizes Motivational Interviewing in the treatment of substance abuse and structural family systems techniques with couples. What most distinguishes his practice, however, is his emphasis on prayer, dependence upon the Holy Spirit, faithfulness to biblical principles, and FAITH.
Consultation is free.

* Christian Psychology is similar to progressive biblical counseling. It is a merger of theology and psychology, a psychology based on the Bible and two millennia of practical theology to understand the human psyche and behavior.
