About
As a trauma-informed and strengths-based counsellor I am dedicated to supporting both individuals and couples in gaining insight into their internal world and it's challenges, to provide strategies to manage painful/difficult thoughts and feelings (especially anxiety and depression!), to restore ruptured relationships and to heal from the impacts of trauma. My goal is to provide a safe, warm, non-judgmental space for us to work together to improve your well-being. I use objective assessments to evaluate and ensure your counselling needs are being met along the way, and you are moving toward a life of vitality and flourishing.
I rely on evidence based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy.
Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist
My approach to counselling centres on joining with people with compassion, empathy and respect to create a safe environment for the work of strengthening resilience, overcoming barriers, and finding freedom to live a meaning-filled, purposeful life. I believe we all have God given strengths and resources to shift perspectives, to heal emotionally and to flourish in our own unique ways – counselling simply allows people the time and space to re-discover these resources and to build from their internal strengths. I continually seek God’s wisdom and guidance as I integrate a variety of strategies including a person-centred approach, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy to facilitate the journey toward healing and whole-hearted living.
