About
Maybe when you hear "You are Loved" or "You are God's Masterpiece" you cringe. Or you just don't believe it applies to you anymore. Grief, loss, and life transitions have a way of doing that — robbing you of your sense of self and even your closeness with God. You might feel far from Him. Maybe even angry. That is not weak faith. That is real loss.
I'm Debra Hirschberg, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience walking alongside women through grief, caregiver burnout, life transitions, and trauma. My approach is faith-integrated and deeply personal — no cookie-cutter treatment plans, no shame, no pushing through. Just honest, grace-filled support that meets you exactly where you are.
I use Brainspotting, Art Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and faith-integrated counseling to help you heal beyond just talking. For women who want deeper focused work I also offer equine-assisted intensives and seasonal retreats.
Each year I host retreats — a small, intimate faith-based equine retreat for women ready to move from surviving to truly living again.
I am EAGALA certified since 2005. Trained in Natural Lifemanship, Brainspotting, IFS, Art Therapy, and TBRI. Co-author of Mending Broken Hearts and Broken Connections.
Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist
I didn't set out to become a Christian counselor — I set out to help people heal. But early in my practice I kept seeing that something was missing when faith was left out of the room. The women I most wanted to help were carrying not just emotional pain but spiritual pain — grief that had shaken their faith, transitions that made them question God's presence, loss that left them angry at Him.
I couldn't separate their healing from their faith. And I didn't want to.
My own journey has mirrored theirs in ways I never expected. In 2025 I lost the equine facility that had been the heart of Hope Reins for years. What felt like an ending became a transformation. God has a way of doing that — meeting us in our loss and making something new.
That is why I do this work. Because I know what it feels like to stand in the middle of a season that has changed everything — and I know that healing is possible on the other side.
