About

James obtained an M.Div. degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. He specialized in psychiatry and religion. His initial training was as a hospital chaplain. He obtained additional training in individual therapy through a one year intern program (Toronto Institute for Human Relations). He also received two years of additional training in couple and family therapy. (Kitchener Interfaith Pastoral Counselling Centre) He is a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario.

He draws upon the resources and understandings available in the Christian faith to help his clients reflect on how God might be acting in their lives through the difficulties and struggles which bring them to counselling.

Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist

The Christian faith offers deep insights into human nature and into the struggle to be more human. I agree with Richard Rohr that we are spiritual beings trying to become more human. The struggle to be more or a better human being is one which takes place in therapy every day. I cannot divorce my faith from my work and in many ways they are one in the same.
