About
Makarios Counseling (meaning "blessed"/"happy", this word often seen in the Beatitudes and in the book of Revelation), offers two types of services:
1. Co-Coaching for Pastors and Christian Leaders: in a session, there is both an LCSW and an MDiv present to be able to work with you holistically. Pastor Drew Zylstra (MDiv from Calvin Theological Seminary) approaches sessions from the view of being a current pastor and knowing the spiritual side and struggles that this population faces and Allison Gartman, LCSW brings the therapeutic knowledge to help look at the big picture and work towards goals. Co-Coaching is offered for clients nationwide.
2. Allison also provides therapy for individuals, couples, and families. Her specialties include assisting those who are navigating life transitions, adults questioning their worldview/religious and political beliefs, and couples and families who desire to grow in their communication with one another. She obtained her Bachelors in Social Work from Trinity Christian College and her Masters in Social Work from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Clients are able to be seen for therapy if they live in Wisconsin or Florida.
At Makarios Counseling, we individualize each session to meet client's where they are, bringing encouragement and often a gentle push to expand your goals to an area you may not have seen possible before. The hope of heaven brings us peace but does not diminish our earthly struggles and we are here to walk alongside you as you navigate this side of heaven.
