About

I hold an undergraduate degree from Western University and a master’s degree from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. I have been practicing mental health counseling since 2000—first as a Counseling Pastor, and later as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). For a time, I also held a credential as a domestic violence intervention provider.

My counseling orientation:

If you agree that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made," you would also expect that as researchers explore behavior—and the biology that expresses those behaviors—it is important not only to understand those mechanisms, but through that understanding, discover how to change their effects.

I help patients come to understand not only how outside forces affect them, but also how their internal autonomic systems work to protect them while sometimes bringing about unhelpful behaviors that need to change. We have all experienced saying, "I will never do that again," only to habitually do it again. That is the autonomic system overriding your narrative intent. Both can be true at the same time: "I'm going to lose weight" is likely a true statement of intent when spoken, even while a person's autonomic system is disconnected from that statement and defaults to everyday behaviors.
