Michele D. Sparks LPCC and the team at River of Life Professional Counseling are passionate about seeing the lives of individuals, families, couples, and groups changed and hope restored where there has been emotional woundedness. We offer individual, child, adolescent and family therapies for a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, abuse/trauma, school issues, behavioral problems, grief, parenting, life transitions, and anger management, Christian and spirituality issues, and interpersonal relationship concerns.
As such we combine an empathic environment with practical skill building and techniques to help people with their life concerns. Both professional clinical and clinical Christian evidence-based approaches are offered. We look forward to waling alongside clients in a therapeutic relationship towards becoming all the Lord desires them to be.
We understand that it is often not an easy step to reach out for help. That is why we try to create a safe secure clinical environment where change is possible. We believe that when practical life skills are coupled with the presence of the Holy Spirit's leading as the Mighty Counselor healing, hope, and renewed perspective are indeed possible.
Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist
It has always fascinated me about how the rates of depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns are similar both outside and within the Christian church. I am deeply concerned for those within the church who do not often feel freedom to honestly approach the throne of God's grace for the help and healing they need. There is sadly such a mixed message about whether we are truly allowed to come in all our vulnerability for the healing we so desperately desire. Through writing, teaching seminars and conferences, and clinical counseling with a Christian emphasis I assist people in walking in the freedom Jesus Christ desires for them.
