About
SMPsychotherapy & Counseling Services provides mental health services to women and their families from a Christian perspective.
I am a bilingual Licensed Practical Counselor Associate and currently hold an M.S. in Human Services with a concentration in Clinical Diagnosis. I specialize in adults with Depression and Anxiety, by applying a faith-based perspective and counseling. As a faith-based therapist, I can assist individuals with aligning their mental health and faith to be supported in every aspect of their lives.
I also have professional counseling experience working as a Social Worker for families and a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. As a Social Worker, I worked with individuals struggling with domestic violence, family or relational issues, incarceration, familiar struggles, and self- destructive behaviors.
My role as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor consists of helping individuals with several disabilities to become competitively employable regardless of their disability.
Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist
As a Catholic, my entire life has been surrounded by many individuals involved in various religious and spiritual groups. As a result, it allowed me to observe the mental health stigma within faith-based communities. Many individuals use spiritual beliefs and practices to avoid addressing psychological issues. My goal is to apply faith-based tools to navigate their mental well-being.
“Whoever suffers mental illness always bears God’s image and likeness and has an inalienable right to be considered a person and treated as such.”
-St. Pope John Paul II
