About

Reduced fee spots available (Please, ask if you need this).

Hi, I’m Shannon Mick, NCC, LPC, founder of Finish Stronger Counseling.

I provide compassionate virtual therapy to adults across Pennsylvania who are ready to overcome anxiety, trauma, and eating disorders—especially endurance runners and athletes who want to feel strong in both mind and body.

As a semi-professional ultramarathoner and assistant running coach myself, I truly understand the unique mental challenges that come with the sport: DNFs, DNSs, injury recovery, training balance, body image, and the relentless drive to push your limits.

My holistic, movement-informed approach blends evidence-based therapy with real-world strategies that honor the mind-body connection athletes live every day.

Using CBT, DBT, and ACT, I help clients address root causes, build resilience, and develop the mindset tools they need to cross every finish line—on the trail and in life.

Whether you’re navigating performance anxiety, rebuilding after a setback, or simply wanting to feel like yourself again, my goal is simple: help you finish stronger.

Private pay: $105 per 35-45 minute session.

Like most specialty providers, I do not participate in any insurance plans.

Paying out-of-pocket is a great option for people who want maximum privacy, confidentiality, and flexibility.

I offer reduced fee spots. I am open to chatting about the fee to see if I can meet you where you're at. Please, only ask about this option if you really need it because these spots are limited, it may take it away from someone else. Thanks.

Reduced fee: $50-90 per 35-45 minute session.

I can also provide you with a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. I cannot guarantee that you will get reimbursed.

Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist

I became a professional Christian counselor because God has created me with the characteristics and talents that it takes to be a great counselor. I recognized these characteristics when I was a teenager, as friends would often come to me for support or advice.

However, counseling wasn't what I wanted to do when I was in college. I planned on going into engineering and was really drawn in by what I could possibly create with those skills. I was passionate about building things and creating experiences for people to enjoy. I have always loved rollercoasters, so I imagined myself creating rollercoasters and amusement park attractions.

I spent time getting additional learning support from my algebra and calculus professor outside of class. The math professor, who I knew personally, was my grandparents' church pastor. He told me that I should seriously reconsider my engineering major because math wasn't my thing and he didn't want me to struggle.

With his advice in mind (and knowing he was right), I reflected on what else I wanted to do, but more importantly, what I was good at... something that had very little to do with math. What did God want me to do? What talents has God blessed me with? I didn't spend much time thinking about it, I changed my major to psychology because I knew that I was suited to help people.

Being a counselor is a form of art, it requires creating experiences for people. The therapeutic techniques and strategies are like art, in the way that I can deliver it and use it to meet my clients' needs. I customize each session and they are person-centered.

I got to use my God-given talents and I'm uniquely made to be a counselor. Honestly, thank God for the message from my math professor, otherwise my life could have been like a rollercoaster crash, ha! I am happy and enjoy doing what I do.
