Shari Rigg is a Licensed Addiction Counselor specializing in individual, couples and family therapy related to substance use disorders and gambling disorder. She maintains a private practice in Missoula, MT.

With over 16 years experience as an addiction counselor, and as a graduate of the University of Great Falls specializing in Substance Use Disorders, she is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Shari has been a licensed addiction counselor since 2000 and has worked in the corrections field for much of that time. She managed the addiction treatment program at Crossroads Correctional Center for six years, worked at the WATCh program (felony DUI) in Glendive, and facilitated an aftercare program for WATCh graduates at Gateway Community Services in Great Falls. Shari is a certified facilitator for the Prime for Life classes and has managed the ACT (DUI offenses) in Great Falls and Superior. She has conducted several treatment groups designed to assist offenders in re-integrating into the community, developing a support system, and establishing a quality recovery program with a focus on relapse prevention and criminal thinking. She has done assessments in the community as well as in correctional settings.

In addition to being a prominent addiction counselor, Shari has presented to general and professional audiences on the topics of identifying a problem with substance use and gambling behavior, getting help for someone who has a problem, how to support someone in recovery, and the role of spirituality in recovery.

Shari is an interactive, solution-focused addiction counselor. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges to address problems with substance use/gambling and maintain a lifestyle of low-risk substance use or abstinence. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
