We are Larry and Sharon Spivey and are both Board Certified via the American Association of Christian Counselors: Sharon is a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor and Larry is a Board Certified Biblical Counselor and Board Certified Master Life Coach. Our specialty is Marriage and Pre-Marriage Counseling on a couple to couple basis. We have been married 45 years and have worked in ministry and as private practitioners for over 15 years. We have developed a protocol that has been very successful with most couples who have put God central to their marriage. We basically teach couples how to be married and how to retain connection and accommodate differences successfully.
We have worked closely with a number of churches in the Greenville area providing couples retreats, staff training, and setting up successful Pre-Marriage Mentor programs. We are both qualified to administer Myers Briggs Type Indicator which we use in staff training for team building. Larry is a trainer for Life Innovations in Prepare/Enrich.
Sharon also specializes in trauma work and has a heart for adult victims of child sex abuse. Sharon previously retired from the Department of Mental Health, having served in a variety of positions with the Greenville Mental Health Center.
Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist
After working in a secular agency for many years, Sharon vowed never to do counseling again, but God had a different plan that slowly evolved through a ministry we began with young engaged couples at one of the largest churches in the Greenville area. We began our marriage with great difficulty, since we were polar opposites, and after many years figured out, with God's grace, what worked and what didn't. Our goal is to help couples be successful in marriage to grow healthy families who please and glorify our Lord.
