Magda Demerritt is a South Florida native, born and raised in Miami-Dade County. She attended Florida International University where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Florida as well as a Licensed Minister of the Gospel. She is certified in Child Welfare, trained in several crisis management interventions and speak fluent Haitian/Creole. She has over 13 years of experience providing care and treatment to members of our community as well as providing supervision and leadership to newer professionals in the field. She specializes in Trauma having been trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction and certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In 2013, she founded Wonderful Counselor, LLC where she provides therapeutic services including faith based services to adults who present with an array of mental health challenges including trauma, anxiety or depression. She provides supervision for Student Learners in Social Work Programs at local Universities and Supervision for Registered Clinical Social Work Interns looking to find their niche and develop as future clinical leaders in the field. Finally, she provides community education regarding mental health to remove stigma and normalize therapeutic intervention for minorities in the community.
