My Christian Faith and My Professional Practice

At Wright Choice Counseling, we believe true healing involves the mind, body, and spirit. As trauma-informed therapists trained in approaches such as EMDR and Brainspotting, we deeply value evidence-based therapy tools that help clients process trauma, reduce anxiety, and move toward healing. At the same time, we recognize that many people experience spiritual struggles alongside emotional pain.

Trauma, grief, anxiety, burnout, and relationship wounds can leave people feeling overwhelmed by fear, shame, hopelessness, or disconnected from themselves, others, and God. As Christians, we believe fear is not from Jesus. Scripture reminds us that Jesus is the Prince of Peace, and we believe people deserve support that helps them reconnect with hope, peace, safety, and purpose.

Our practice strives to create a space where people feel welcomed exactly as they are. You do not have to have everything figured out before reaching out for help. Whether you are struggling in your marriage, feeling emotionally exhausted, carrying unresolved trauma, grieving a loss, or simply feeling stuck, we want you to know you do not have to carry it alone.

We are real people who care deeply about those we serve. Our approach is compassionate, down-to-earth, and supportive. While we offer Christian counseling for those who desire faith-integrated care, we also respect each client’s personal beliefs, values, and comfort level throughout the counseling process.

Wright Choice Counseling offers Christian counseling, trauma therapy, EMDR, Brainspotting, couples counseling, marriage intensives, family therapy, and support for first responders, helpers, and individuals navigating life stressors. Services are available in-person in Effingham and Vandalia, as well as online throughout Illinois.

We accept most major insurance plans, sliding scale options, and private pay. If you are ready to take the next step, we invite you to reach out and share what you are struggling with. Healing and hope are possible.

Healing is not linear.

My philosophy in counseling is to meet you where you are, whether you’re completely new to therapy or you’ve tried everything under the sun before. We’ll build a treatment plan using methods that best fit your needs and long-term goals.

My main goal is to take a neuro-informed approach to better identify the different areas in the brain that may be miscommunicating and work to assist you in rewiring those neuronal connections. This work helps with understanding the gap between your brain and your behavior.

I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-focused approaches, and trauma-informed approaches in my work. As a therapist, I won't try to “fix

"Healing takes time and asking for help is a courageous step."

I strive to create a safe and non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable to share your story and feel supported. I approach therapy through a client-centered and personalized lens, tailoring our work together to what matters most to you. Rather than telling you what to do or trying to “fix” things, I see our work as sitting side by side with a complex puzzle—gently sorting through the pieces, making sense of what feels scattered, and discovering how the pieces begin to fit together. Whatever life stressors, worries or challenges bring you to therapy, just know you will be met with an understanding and empathetic heart, foc
